This year, we will not be able to witness any Crypto in Super Bowl LVII. 2022 was an incredible “Crypto Bowl” with four giants placing flashy and grand advertisements all across Super Bowl. They were respectively FTX, Coinbase, Crypto.com, and eToro. This year, alcohol is dominating the stage instead and crypto disappeared from the public eye.
The Super Bowl is the biggest venue for advertising. In fact, many companies compete to promote their products in front of the more than 100 million people that watch each year. According to Mark Evans, Fox Sports’ executive vice president of ad sales, a few spots cost more than $7 million for a 30-second spot. Meanwhile, the majority sold for between $6 million and $7 million.
Crypto Fail to Make it to The Super Bowl
This year, major alcohol brands are all taking the limelight in The Super Bowl. At three minutes of nationwide airtime, Anheuser-Busch remains the largest advertiser. However, they are not the only ones. Heineken, Diageo, Remy Martin, and Molson Coors are all dominating the advertising space. Meanwhile, crypto companies were nowhere to be seen.
FTX which was popular in their E-sports sponsorship and one of the biggest exchanges crumbled into dust. Meanwhile, the other companies from last year all proceed to downsize and pull out from the Super Bowl. According to Evans, two crypto marketers had advertisements “scheduled and done” this year. Two others were also “on the one-yard line.” However, the 2022 bear market shocked the business to its core, wiping away about $2 trillion and forcing several bankruptcies.
2023 and 2024 Will Once Again be the Year for Crypto
Despite missing out on the advertisements and becoming a Crypto Super Bowl, the year is going great for crypto traders. We are looking at a lot of green candlesticks. Some altcoins are also reaching their ATH. Furthermore, we have a lot of promising new projects such as CoreDAO and an upcoming NFT Marketplace Blur. Along with Bitcoin halving happening soon, Crypto will once again become the limelight of the community.
