What is the PEGO Consensus Protocol (PPOS)?

PPOS (PEGO Proof of Stake) combines the strengths of both Proof of Stake (POS) and Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) to provide a fair and rewarding system for all network participants, including nodes and users. The consensus scheme in PEGO follows a series of steps to ensure the integrity and efficiency of block generation and validation:

Block Generation and Verification: A small number of nodes, initially fixed at 21, are in charge of producing and confirming blocks. However, this figure is changeable via proposals on the ecosystem’s DAO.

Rotating Block Generation: Validators generate blocks in rotation, in a manner similar to Ethereum’s Clique consensus engine. This rotation ensures that all validators have an equal chance to participate in the block generation process, supporting network fairness.

On-chain Governance and Incentives: Validators are chosen and deleted depending on methods of on-chain governance. Staking and other incentive mechanisms are used in this selection process to encourage active involvement and responsible behavior among validators.
