Meta Pool is a liquid staking solution for users holding $NEAR and wNEAR tokens. At the platform, users earn rewards while maintaining their liquidity to engage in DeFi activities on NEAR and Aurora. When users stake their $NEAR and wNEAR tokens with Meta Pool, they receive stNEAR, a NEP-141 standard token.
Essential information for their token is available on the MEXC Digital asset introduction page. Furthermore, we are listing (METAP/USDT – Trade it here) on our Innovation Zone! Check it out now!
How Does Meta Pool Work?
Meta Pool offers a liquid staking solution for holders of $NEAR and wNEAR tokens. Users who stake these tokens with Meta Pool will receive stNEAR tokens in exchange. The stNEAR is a yield-bearing asset that increases in value every epoch (approximately every 12 hours). Therefore, stakers can continue to earn staking rewards. They can also use stNEAR for DeFi activities such as lending, farming, and borrowing on the NEAR and Aurora networks.
With stNEAR tokens, users can earn staking yield on their $NEAR and also receive additional APY from various DeFi protocols. Meanwhile, stNEAR can be traded and farmed on multiple DeFi platforms and used as a collateral asset on lending and borrowing platforms to generate additional income.
When you use Meta Pool to liquid-stake your $NEAR tokens, they are distributed to over 80 validator nodes. This helps to decentralize and secure the NEAR Protocol. It also provides more exposure to retail $NEAR holders for new nodes joining the network. The Meta Pool smart contract not only distributes funds across many validators but also automatically rebalances the allocation to each validator based on various parameters. This prevents any validator from being too concentrated and removes underperforming validators that can undermine the network. Overall, the distribution and rebalancing mechanisms ensure the security and stability of the NEAR Protocol.
Why Should You Provide Liquidity?
When you become a liquidity provider on Meta Pool, you can earn rewards in two ways. First, you can receive a percentage of the liquidity fees. Second, you can earn Meta Pool’s governance token, METAP, which is distributed every Monday.
The liquidity provider’s rewards are based on the liquid-unstake operations. The annual percentage yield (APY) is fully based on liquid-unstake fees. These fees are the commission that unstakers pay when they swap staked NEAR (stNEAR) tokens to NEAR tokens when they unstake.
The liquidity fee usually ranges from 0.3% to 3%, and it varies depending on the liquidity available in the Meta Pool Liquidity Pool. The rate can also vary depending on market conditions and activity. If there is no activity in the market, the fees will be lower, and so will the rewards. However, if there is a lot of activity and unstaking, the fees will be higher, and so will the APY.
The target liquidity can also affect the rewards. If the liquidity is below its target quantity (which is currently set at 90,000 NEAR), the unstake fee is higher, and so is the LP reward.
How to Add NEAR to Meta Pool?
To provide liquidity to the Meta Pool liquidity pool, follow these steps:
- Go to the Liquidity section on the Meta Pool app.
- Choose whether you want to “Add” or “Remove” liquidity.
- Enter the amount of NEAR you want to add.
- Confirm the transaction and sign it.
With each liquid unstake, the value in the “Your share value” field will increase, which is influenced by your share in the pool of the total amount of blocked liquidity and the current liquid unstake fee charged.
