McDonald’s Now Accepts Bitcoin & Tether in Lugano

The global fast food giant McDonald’s begins to accept Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether for transactions in Lugano, Switzerland with a population of 63,000. This town is becoming crypto-friendly as well as a trending place for crypto adoption in the West of Europe. Back in March 2022, Lugano announced that the legal tender they accept includes Bitcoin, Tether and LVGA token.

More than that, residents in Lugano can pay for goods and services, even taxes with digital currencies after the city of Lugano signed a memorandum of understanding with Tether Operations Ltd. in March this year. The launch of “Plan B” enables crypto to be used in more industries and sectors, such as pay for parking, tuition and other public services.

The CTO of Tether Paolo Ardoino claims that they want to show the world how crypto can be used in real-life scenarios and the 3 million (Swiss franc) will help facilitate the acceptance of cryptocurrency in Swiss cities that are crypto-oriented. MEXC is pleased to see more cities are now accepting crypto as payment methods.
