MEXC AMA XX Network (XX) – Session with Benjamin Wenger, Will Carter & Jim dolbear

In this Telegram AMA recap, you’ll find insights about the XX Network Foundation project. In an event hosted by Luckylllll from MEXC, you will meet Benjamin Wenger (co-founder of the xx network ) Will Carter ( founders & directors of the xx foundation ) Jim dolbear (cofounder of the xx network)

Introduction:

Benjamin Wenger:
Hi! I am Benjamin Wenger. I am a co-founder and have been working on xx network since just about the beginning. I was drawn to the project because I believe privacy and security are inalienable rights and I was inspired by David’s vision to make it so. I focus on cMix and the xx messenger, but try to make sure that I take a holistic perspective to ensure the entire platform is successful.

Will Carter:
My name’s Will, I was one of the original founders of the xx network and I’m currently one of the directors of the xx foundation here in the Cayman Islands. While I’m from the United States, I grew up around the world which I think has given me a broad perspective on various beliefs and cultures and helps me understand different perspectives. My background is in computer science, research, and operations for startups, defense contractors, and NASA JPL. At the xx foundation, I’m currently focused on bringing awareness of the xx network to the world and supporting the development of enterprise and consumer applications that leverage its unique technology. Outside of the xx network I’m big into crypto, food, travel, technology, and psychology.

jim dolbear:
Hi I’m Jim Dolbear. I’m a cofounder of the xx network. I’m in Los Angeles with Ben (and David Chaum). I’ve been responsible for general management and strategy. I worked for many years in manufacturing and introdcued decntralized, autonomous teams. That’s where I learned how powerful something like the xx network can be.

Questions from community:

Lucky Q1. What is xx network (XX)? Can you share with us more in detail? @wjcarter3 @theBenger @jimmydolbear.

Will Carter: The xx network was founded by David Chaum and includes two major components: an extremely fast quantum-ready blockchain and the most private communications network in the world. Together these address a major need in the Web3 ecosystem that developers can use to build the next generation of privacy preserving applications. Using the xx developer kit (xxDK) other blockchains and applications can route their traffic through the xx network to add metadata protection to their transactions.

Benjamin Wenger: Developed using the xxDK, the xx messenger mobile app is the first decentralized, truly private, quantum-secure, end-to-end encrypted messenger in the world. The xx messenger is available on major app stores and its performance has already attracted daily users in over 65 countries.

Lucky Q2. What triggers you to launch xx network (XX)? What are some of the real-world problems/ pain points that xx network (XX) aims to solve?

What are xx network (XX)’s unique selling points as compared to other similar projects in the industry?

enjamin Wenger: Communication is the foundation of the Internet. Social media, news, shopping, and educational platforms are all underpinned by the ability to communicate across the world, at any time, with anyone. We form relationships, we learn, we grow, and we share our lives and our secrets online – and up until now, we’ve done it by selling our identities to the most powerful companies in the world.

jim dolbear: The xx network is a revolution in the way we build and use the communications platforms that make the Internet so ubiquitous in our daily lives. The xx network provides private communications infrastructure that isn’t owned by a corporation, individual, or government. On top of that, the xx network can’t scoop up your data or your identity, and it can’t be censored – nor be discovered – even by the most determined actors. Ensured by cryptography, the xx network is owned and operated by its users, meaning you can run the servers and make the decisions.

Lucky Q3. What is the role of the $XX token in xx network? Would you tell us more about its tokenomics?

Will Carter: The xx coin represents your voice in the network. It’s used to vote, exchange value, and incentivize you to run a server or node, and it gives uncensorable access to the most private decentralized communications network in the world.
The xx network utilizes nominated Proof-of-Stake (nPoS) to incentivize all coin holders to run and elect nodes as well as participate in the governance of the platform via an on-chain DAO. The xx network mainnet launched in November 2021 with 1 billion total coins and is expected to be deflationary for the first 5 years.
Coin holders who stake their coins in the network can earn up to 50% APY in staking rewards.
While the network is in its growth phase, the messaging service is free. But eventually the xx coin will be the utility token for private communications and hopefully an entire suite of privacy dApps which the foundation currently has a large grant program to support.

Lucky Q4. Are there any exciting news or updates with regards to xx network (XX) that you would like to share with the users?

Benjamin Wenger: The elixxir team is hard at work on the next set of features for the xxDK and the xx messenger. We are currently implementing api support for private channels – a system like telegram which is actually decentralized, actually censorship resistant and really private. In fact, it will be just about impossible for anyone to tell a channel exists unless they are invited to it. We are also working on general payment support, for both the xx messenger and any dapp. You can find a whitepaper hosted by the foundation.

Will Carter: xx Labs has partnered with ChainSafe and has been working quickly to make the xx network blockchain even more scalable using our breakthrough quantum-secure cryptography and consensus. The results of this partnership will make the xx network the most scalable quantum-secure blockchain platform in the world

jim dolbear: Our cryptographer Mario Yaksetig recently presented at the 3rd International Conference on Mathematical Research for Blockchain Economy some of our groundbreaking research on integrating quantum-secure signatures into any non-quantum-secure blockchain wallet. This is critical for ensuring the xx network and the crypto ecosystem as a whole is ready for the emergence of quantum computing.

Lucky Q5.
If you were to summarize your project in ONE word, what would it be? Why?

Will Carter: The word is NECESSARY. The world is facing a lot of challenges right now and the ability to communicate freely is critical to finding truth and organizing in the face of growing injustice and uncertainty. As large corporations and authoritative governments abuse their power over financial and communications infrastructure, we NEED a new approach to building the tools which will help us work together. We NEED to have privacy options when building the Web3 apps of the future and the xx network is the solution.

Free-asking Session

Q1. Security audits are extremely important for any project, especially DeFi protocols that deal with user funds. So, can you explain if your project has been audited to convey confidence and security to the crypto community that is interested in investing in your project?   @wjcarter3 @theBenger @jimmydolbear

Will Carter:

This is obviously an important question as we’ve seen a lot of problems pop up in other major projects. We have had our blockchain implementation audited by ChainSafe and are very confident in the security of the platform. We also have an on chain DAO that all token holders may participate in that has the ability to manage any issues that could pop up in the future as well as guide upgrades to the platform.

Q2. My question: Ambassadors play a very important role in every project, Do you have an ambassador program? if yes please share it with us?

Benjamin Wenger:
Answer: Yes! The xx network has launched an ambassador program with community members from all over the world and from many languages. The xx council, a decentralized group of network representatives elected on chain by coin holders, just finished the first large trial incentivisation program which we view as a blueprint for how the ambassador program should work. We have had country leadership in China (Beijing and Shanghia mostly) including live xx events and the foundation plans to use this as a model for other countries (for example there will be an xx event in Istanbul in the fall as part of Istanbul Blockchain Week). The first set of ambassadors are from Latin America, Canada, Turkey, Asia, and more are already hard at work. More details on applications and how to join will be coming soon!

Q3. Hi @jimmydolbear @theBenger What strategy will you implement to bring non-crypto-natives into your ecosystem? How do you keep a balance between developing the technology and also improving the value of your token?

Benjamin Wenger:
xx network isn’t just a coin – it is a private communications platform. The public is more aware than ever – really more than ever – that there is no privacy in today’s internet. The xx network offers the xx messenger, live on all major app stores, which allows for completely private communication through the xx network at scale and capable of supporting millions of users.

But the xx messenger is just the beginning. The elixxir team is focused on a series of privacy dApps for the general public. One such is called shielded help. The goal is to connect people in need with those who can help privately, For example, whistleblowers, those facing intimate partner violence, those in regions where necessary medical care is banned, ect.

And there is so much more. The xx foundation has a grant program open now to incentivise anyone to build these privacy grants, and xx developers have provided roadmaps on how to build dozens of applications. If you are a developer interested in the next generation of consumer facing apps, apply now! https://xxfoundation.org/archive/xx-foundation-announces-the-xx-dapps-grant-program/
You can learn more about and get the xx messenger here: https://elixxir.io/

Q4. Almost 80% investors have just focused on price of token in short term instead of understanding the real value of the project. Can you tell us on motivations and benefits for investors to hold your token in long term?

Will Carter:
This has been a frustration for me personally in this space. Decentralization is a powerful tool and sometimes it feels like too much attention is focused on short term meme investments than really focusing on making Web3 a true successor to Web2 for real world problems. While nobody likes a bear market, one good effect can be that we adjust our focus to projects that have “real value” as you say. We saw this with the .com bubble in the 90s. The xx network is solving real world problems at the very center of society and doing it in ways that Web2 is incapable of doing. It’s providing the infrastructure we will use for online communication which is the core utility for some of the most valuable online platforms in the world today and it’s putting the control of that infrastructure in YOUR hands. If you believe society needs to be able to communicate securely and privately without interference or exploitation (one of the stated fundamental human rights) then this platform has immense lasting value.

Q5. Can you list 1-3 killer features of this project that makes it ahead of its competitors? What is the competitive advantage your project has that you feel most confident about?

jim dolbear:
The internet was designed with public addressing (routing of data packets to public IP addresses) when the internet was designed/specified by the IETF (The Internet Engineering Task Force). This was the way most post/mail systems (with paper letters) had been designed. But with computers, companies like Facebook could easily collect and exploit all this public “traffic” information.

The result was profiling and exploitation of users for advertising.

The privacy protecting, communication layer of the xx network used xx’s cMix technology to create “anonymity groups” where users are part of a large group so they cannot be tracked. This is revolutionary and gives people privacy they never had before.

There have been billions of dollars invested in the development of quantum computing by corporations, governments and venture investors in countries around the world. Quantum computing is coming.

And yet, Web 2.0 and almost every single blockchain uses legacy “ECDSA” crypto which can be easily broken or hacked by quantum computers. This means that all information on the web could be changed (like prices in online shopping catalogs) and it means that wallets could be hacked and money stolen.

The quantum resistant crypto that xx network is based on hashes of very, very large numbers combined with our digital compact signature scheme, to deliver protection for xx users. The xx blockchain is “future-proofed” against the threat of quantum computing.

Everyone uses smartphones. Everywhere. Obviously. And everyone expects their apps to be reliable and fast. But blockchain technology is usually slow and clunky.
