ChatGPT Edu For Universities

ChatGPT Edu is designed for students, faculty, researchers, and campus operations. OpenAI emphasized that this new service provides enterprise-level security and controls while remaining affordable for educational institutions. Several universities, including Oxford, Wharton, University of Texas at Austin, Arizona State University, and Columbia University, are already utilizing the service.

Columbia University researchers are using ChatGPT to develop strategies for preventing drug overdoses. Additionally, an assistant professor at Arizona State University has created a GPT Buddy to help students practice German conversationally.

Kyle Bowen, Arizona State University’s deputy CIO, strongly supported the initiative, stating that Integrating OpenAI’s technology into our educational and operational frameworks accelerates transformation at ASU. We’re collaborating across our community to harness these tools, extending our learnings as a scalable model for other institutions.

Support For Nonprofits

OpenAI’s second initiative targets nonprofits, offering them the ChatGPT Team service at a discounted fee of $20 per user per month, with a potential 50% discount for larger nonprofits ready for widespread deployment. This initiative aims to provide nonprofits access to the latest AI models, including GPT-4 and features such as image generation, collaborative workspaces, and custom GPTs.

OpenAI has made its GPT-4 model available to unpaid users in related news, providing access to search capabilities, custom GPTs, image generation, and web response integration. However, users must subscribe to a paid tier to create custom GPTs and avoid message limits on the GPT-4 model.

OpenAI’s new initiatives for universities and nonprofits mark a significant step in making AI technology accessible and beneficial across various sectors. By providing tailored services and discounted rates, OpenAI is fostering innovation and enhancing capabilities in education and nonprofit organizations.
