MEXC AMA POINT NETWORK – Session with Serge Ver

In this Telegram AMA recap, you’ll find insights about the POINT NETWORK project. In an event hosted by SenHo from MEXC, you will meet Serge Ver ( CEO & CO- FOUNDER)

Introduction:

Sen ho : Serge Var, would you like to say hello and introduce yourself?

Serge Ver: Sure, hi Sen and MEXC community, I’m Serge Var, CEO of Point Labs, and after 2 years of work we’re introducing Point Network to the world

Questions from community:

Sen ho: 1. What is Point Network(POINT) ? Can you share with us more in detail?

Serge Ver : Point Network is world’s first full web3 implementation. A lot of people think web3 is already here, which is untrue – it’s still a dream, a dream of fully decentralized internet, unkillable, free of censorship and mass-surveillance

A lot of so called “d”Apps and “web3” projects are not decentralized, they’re still web 2.5

And we saw it this month – with Tornado Cash being banned from dApps

curve fi DNS being hacked

eth.link, domain used by many to access ETH dapps, expired because the owner of the domain is in prison

So people are realizing that there’s actually no real web3

Until now. We gathered together to figure out how to really decentralized every single major component of the internet

Domains, name servers, storage, etc.

And then we built it, and called it Point Network

It has its own Point Browser, which is only rendering web3 domains (.point, .eth, .sol) and doesn’t even allow to go to web2 websites. So it’s the first network that is completely isolated from the old internet and growing as its own space

We did it so that finally developers couldn’t cheat anymore – if you call yourself a decentralized app, you cannot use Amazon Web Services as storage or spy on users with Google Analytics

Unlike many projects, we decided not to launch our token until we’re post-product and post-users, and spent 2 years with the team building it and listening to our early adopters

And finally it’s in a good shape to become a mainnet beta Can see more details on pointnetwork.io

Sen ho: 2. What triggers you to launch Point Network(POINT)? What are some of the real-world problems/ pain points that Point Network(POINT) aims to solve?

Serge Ver: Well I’ve been around the crypto space for a while. A lot of new people entered web3 space recently, mostly from NFT hype, and I hear strange things like “some government interventions are fine” or “some censorship is ok, let’s give it to governments” or “mass-surveillance is not a problem” etc.

I remember the roots of the crypto movement, out of the cipherpunk ethos, Satoshi would’ve been appaled by these statements

And then of course, the Snowden revelations, which people would’ve been calling just another conspiracy theory, had it not been for the real documents he exfiltrated and showed to the world

Turns out, the files we consider private – private photos and videos in iCloud, emails, zoom calls, messages – of billions of people – are being secretly copied by governments into their massive data centers and stored forever

And then being used – not for catching terrorists – but for their personal, career, and political reasons such as blackmail

Snowden told us this in 2013, 9 years ago – unfortunately, nothing has changed since

For all these 9 years the surveillance machine continued to expand

There were only two ways to fight, he said – with legal means and technological

We tried legal route – didn’t work. Tehnological is the only way

And Point Network is using encryption to fight back – end-to-end encrypted messages on Point Mail, encryption derived from your seed phrase on Point Drive, etc.

That’s problem #1, and problem #2 is censorship

In 2022 we don’t have to tell anyone, you all know how bad it is

Thousands of content creators quietly being deplatformed for nothing, without proper explanations

Losing their audiences, because they were never theirs, they rented the audiences from Big Tech

So we have Point Social – uncensorable decentralized social network

Plus some of the features like subscriptions on the blockchain can replace Patreon, superchats etc.

There are two more indirect consequences of Big Tech taking over the internet – one of them is that people are scared to say anything that can go against the vague Community Guidelines

So people are either using code words to talk about some subject, or conforming to the mainstream opinion to not risk being removed

Which harms the open conversation in society

People are self-censoring themselves

And the second is that Big Tech algorithms are not transparent, and in the recent interview Zuck has admitted to Joe Rogan that they regularly intervene manually in their AI algorithms

To boost some voices and topics and suppress others On political basis

Point Network is open-source, and not only the default algorithm is visible, everyone can replace the algorithm with their own or someone else’s if they want

Instead of click-maximizing, maybe usefulness-maximizing

So we can experiment with different social media algorithms, for the first time

And all these projects are on top of Point Network infrastructure – basically, we’re showcasing to people what can be built with it, but anyone can deploy their own applications

Sen ho:3. What is the role of the $POINT token in Point Network(POINT)? Would you tell us more about its tokenomics?

Serge Ver: Well the problem with the old internet is that it didn’t have any payment system

So people started to use different types of payment systems

Credit cards, paypal etc.

It would be nice if the next iteration of the internet had a default payment system

And POINT is going to be a default token for everything – invoicing, paying for subscriptions, blockchain gas fees

This doesn’t mean we will limit everyone to it – Point Browser has integrated Point Wallet with multiple currencies and tokens that can be used

And we don’t even limit people to Point Chain – in fact, because we’re not just a chain, but a whole browser suite, we can connect to as many chains as we want and integrate them

At the moment it’s Ethereum and Solana, but would be nice to expand to the whole crypto ecosystem in the long term

So that people can access every dApp from one point

Pun intended

And the tokenomics are on the sale.pointnetwork.io website but y’all killed our servers with a lot of traffic 😄

Sen ho: 4. Are there any exciting news or updates with regards to Point Network(POINT) that you would like to share with the users?

Serge Ver: Sure, we’ve had a lot

For example, yesterday we had a partnership announced with Solana Name Service (Bonfida)

We became the first browser ever to natively resolve .sol domains

Meaning that there are no .sol.something centralized gateways, it reads directly from the blockchain and renders website from decentralized storage

Which is Arweave network

Easier to quote

We were surprised by many people from our community how active they are

When we started the testnet, we were worrying we would be the centralizing factor for a while – but it quickly went to 30 validators in the first day, and then 64 validators in the 2nd, and went up to 100+ validators on the third, which is the maximum active validator set

Meaning that we can now switch off our validators, or, god forbid, get hit by a bus, or disappear – and the network will still continue to be churning out blocks, and decentralized applications like Point Social and Point Mail will still continue to function

Which is a dream for anyone building decentralized peer-to-peer networks

And very soon it’ll launch properly – our public sale ends tomorrow, and mainnet starts September 1

We’ll see how it goes after that

But that doesn’t mean that our (or community’s) job is done

When people click our roadmap, they are often surprised, because they don’t see just a few items like on other websites: https://roadmap.pointnetwork.io/

But this is really what it takes for web3 to become successful and get mass-adopted

We paved the way, built the infrastructure and the first applications – but we can’t do it alone. So it will now depend on the community of web3 enthusiasts to catch up and help develop and deploy all these decentralized applications – decentralized forums, decentralized ecommerce, decentralized upwork, decentralized linkedin etc.

It will be fun, and we will help of course

So that’s the idea for now – to launch the network first, and then to empower the community to help us build the rest of the vision

Sen ho: If you were to summarize your project in ONE word, what would it be? Why?

Serge Ver: Well I don’t want to say something corny like the Future, but we can call it a Start

A start to what? I have no idea. If you asked Vitalik back when Ethereum was out what the future holds, he wouldn’t have been able to tell you

There’s no way he could’ve said – ah yes, there’s going to be DeFi, and crypto-kitties, and NFTs…

Same with creators of the first internet algorithms, they were just enjoying building communication protocols. And look where we are at

Free-asking Session

Q1. Investing in your project currently, Can I be considered as early investor? What is my benefits as early investor

Serge Ver: : Unfortunately, every crypto project is currently under attack, and one wrong word can land them in hot waters and get into multimillion dollar court battles.

Which is why our legal department prepped us really well – we’re making sure to tell everyone that the tokens you’re buying are for use on the network, not an investment, and also it’s not available in some jurisdictions, like the United States, we can’t sell directly to you if you’re from there

You can read the Not an Investment section here: https://sale.pointnetwork.io/#no-invest

Q2. Do you have tutorial videos so we can get to know your project more clearly or do you have a YouTube channel or something? can you share it with us?

Serge Ver: Yes! For example, here is our tutorial on how to deploy your own uncensorable website on Point Network, and our community already started deploying their own websites

Q3. What is strongest advantage that you think will make your team leading the market? In contrast, what is your weakness?

Serge Ver: The strongest advantage is that we don’t seem to have clear competitors, because we looked at the market – and nobody was doing what we were doing. If we saw any, we would’ve used their product instead. But because nobody was going for radical and complete decentralization, we had to do it

The weakness is that infrastructure projects are not as shiny as for example NFTs, it’s not as easy to get people to be excited about them in the beginning. But long-term they’re much more important and will eventually play a large role in this next generation of the internet and its ecosystem of applications

Q4. Too many projects promise magic but never release any working product or prove any revenue, Within a short/long time of release. Is your project also like this? If not can u tell us, What makes your project different from other projects?

Serge Ver: > Too many projects promise magic but never release any working product or prove any revenue, Within a short/long time of release. Is your project also like this? If not can u tell us, What makes your project different from other projects?

That’s exactly why we didn’t launch our token back in 2020 when we had an idea and a whitepaper and even a prototype, like many projects do, instead we self-funded it, then got some backers, and worked for 2 years to make a functional beta version. So it has been released as Open-Source for a while, and only now, once we’re post-product and post-users, we’re comfortable launching, and it makes responding to such questions a breeze

Q5. My question important Sir pls ansure me?????
