Sen ho: Today, we’re honored to have Pablo Moncada-Larrotiz, Founder in our community to give us a more intuitive introduction to their unique project.

Pablo Moncada Larrotiz : Hi everyone! Very excited to be here and help introduce MoonDAO to everyone. Thanks for having me here Sen!
Some background about myself:
I am an ex-Google software engineer and a huge believer in cryptographic decentralization as a key component to solve some of the issues we see today. Before MoonDAO I was a core developer for ConstitutionDAO and also worked for a year on JuntoDAO: a DAO to allow people to collectively govern their real life and digital assets with smart contacts, basically making it easier to share things with your friends. Before that I worked at Waymo (Google’s self driving car), YoutubeVR (real-time server-side rendering, light-field enthusiast), and in biotech (developing a bioreactor to engineer human body parts). I mostly grew up in Ann Arbor, MI, and went to Michigan (Go Blue!), but I’m very culturally Spanish and lived in Zaragoza as a kid.

Sen Ho: 1. What is MoonDAO? Can you share with us more in detail?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: MoonDAO is an international collective of people united by the mission of decentralizing access to space research and exploration.
We are currently living at the inflection point of a privatized space race, and the implications of this moment will define our future. Making life multiplanetary is one of the most inspiring and important missions in our lifetime. The big question is: how? We believe that an international, decentralized, inclusive, and transparent organization would be much better aligned with the needs of the everyday person.
Our mission is to accelerate the advent of a settlement on the Moon that is nation agnostic and self-governing. MoonDAO is taking a collaborative approach and will be working with space agencies in the US, China, and around the world to help bridge the culture divide and ensure peaceful cooperation in Space.
Sen Ho: 2. What triggers you to launch MoonDAO? What are some of the real-world problems that MoonDAO aims to solve?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: MoonDAO solves the problem of space only being accessible to a handful of wealthy individuals or to those who are privileged enough to be born in a country which hosts a space agency. We uphold values of inclusion, peace, transparency, freedom of organization and speech. Space should be in the hands of the people, not any one nation or private entity.
MoonDAO will support funding for individuals to go to space and fund future space research and exploration as it fits into the mission of becoming a governing body for the moon. It is very important to note that the core team has not pre-mined any tokens for ourselves. We have not given “special terms” to any Venture Capitalists, Influencers, Angel Investors, Rich Friends or Family, or any other person. We are all being treated equally.
Sen Ho 3. According to the project’s roadmap- what are your most important next priorities?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz :We recently sent someone to Space to inspire the world and film their experience (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YXXlSG-du7c)
Next, we selected someone totally at random from our community to go. The winner was a Chinese father of three that will be flying to space on a Blue Origin rocket. We are going to be making a documentary out of his experience as well
In tandem we are funding efforts in space research and development. The projects we fund are in the hands of the token holders: it is up to the token holders where this ship goes. We aim to be the NASA of the 21st century — funding, supporting, and building towards a positive future on the Moon. We aim to create an interconnected web of values-aligned organizations that are all supported by MoonDAO members. Groups that partner with us will have access to the biggest community of space enthusiasts on the planet.
The exploration of space should unify the world, not pit us against each other. We believe that a collaborative approach will outperform any single organization.
Sen Ho 4. What is the role of the $MOONEY token in MoonDAO? And so, what about the TOKEN utility?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: MOONEY is a fixed-supply governance token. The whole DAO is governed by this token. Our treasury, community, mission and operations are all coordinated through the use of the MOONEY token. It’s important to note that MOONEY does not represent fractionalized ownership. Governance includes the ability to guide the DAO’s mission, values, and operations of MoonDAO, as well as the allocation of resources to projects that the DAO supports. Governance tokens have no expectation of profit.
Sen Ho 5. If you were to summarize your project in ONE word, what would it be? Why?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: “Space”
MoonDAO’s focus is to decentralize space. We are a the largest space DAO in the world with nearly 12,000 token holders!

Q1. Transparency is important. how did the #MOONEY project manage to provide transparency to gain user trust? then have you done an external audit?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: Transparency is extremely important to us. All of our finances are public at MoonDAO. You can see every single transaction we make on our treasury and we have no private chats, all of our work is done publicly on Discord. We have done contract audits and we are providing reports to the community for more transparency and comprehension about each of the transactions we make.
2. Recently MoonDAO team organized many AMAs on many crypto communities and collecting feedback from community. Is there some big updates coming up?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: Yes! There are a lot of exciting things happening right now at MoonDAO. We will soon be sending our second astronaut to space. This is the first time there is a Chinese citizen being launched from American soil. In a time of great uncertainty, this global cooperation is breaking boundaries and will hopefully inspire people to see space as something that can unite humanity rather than tear us apart through competition.
3. How do you use blockchain technology in your product? What is the function of MoonDAO?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: Blockchain is the perfect solution for secure governance systems on a global scale. I foresee many web2 and nations using blockchain governance in the next few years, and MoonDAO is pioneering the technology with robust governance systems that includes DIDs, quadratic voting, and voting escrow for token staking. We are aiming to scale to hundreds of thousands and someday millions of people weighing in on decisions concerning our future in Space.
Q4. What achievement has MoonDAO acheived so far since you step into the crypto space?
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: MoonDAO has raised 8.3 million dollars through a crypto crowdraise that over 2,000 people participated in, we then bought two seats on a blue origin rocket. One seat we voted on the winner, and the other we ran an NFT sweepstakes to select the winner. We did this all while surviving the bear market through the enthusiasm and perseverance of the community. We’ve also built one of the most sophisticated DAO operations and governance in the world, with a Constitution that is becoming a model for many other DAOs.
Q5. Do you have any plans to attract non-crypto investors to join your project? Because the success of a project attracts more investors who haven’t yet entered the crypto world. What are the plans to raise awareness about your project in the non-crypto space.
Pablo Moncada Larrotiz: Yes! We attend many space conferences and have many connections to space engineers. We are actively onboarding technical people to help incubate moonDAO native projects. We are developing a MoonDAO Satellite and many other crazy projects all with the help of engineers from all over the World
